Song Description
During the Upanayan ceremony, there is a tradition called Marba Nipai, in which the child’s aunts clean and decorate the marba, the designated space where the rituals are conducted. This song is sung during this activity. In the verses, the sisters ask their brother for payment in exchange for the work they are doing for his son. They request that he pay them in advance and keep their spirits up while they prepare the marba. They also mention, in a teasing manner, that he has kept the money received from their father and even saved away what he himself has earned. The song reflects the customary exchange and playful banter between siblings as part of the Marba Nipai ritual.
