Upanayan is a sacred ritual marking a student's initiation into formal education and spiritual learning. During the ceremony, boys wear simple clothing and wooden footwear (khadau) and seek alms from family and villagers. This symbolic act emphasizes humility and simple living while pursuing knowledge. The sacred thread (janeu) is worn for the first time during this ritual, which is why it's also called Yajnopavita Sanskar.
