Song Description

This Maithili bhajan draws on the Sundarkand of the Ramayana, when Sita is held captive in Lanka’s Ashok Vatika, longing for Ram. Weeping, Sita turns to Hanuman: “Tell me, Hanuman, how could my beloved Lord have forgotten me?” Without Ram, the whole world feels empty. Water, earth—everything around me seems to burn like fire. And yet, even after enduring such unbearable suffering, life refuses to leave this wretched body. To remain alive without Ram has itself become my greatest torment.
