Song Description

In earlier times, when battles were fought for dominance, wealth, or cattle, warriors would first worship their weapons before setting out for combat. These weapons were kept in the shastraagaar (armory), where a presiding goddess was envisioned. During such battles, the woman who rushed forward with a staff (lathi) also came to be worshipped, and the mute lady who supported the warriors - Bouki -was likewise revered. Gahil Devi is one such deity who became the kul-devi for many families, especially those who depended on livestock; people worship her for the protection of their cattle and animals. This song is an invocation of Gahil Devi.
