Chaitāvar
Chaitāvar
Chaitavar songs are sung in the month of Chaitra (March–April), when spring is in full bloom and nature is fragrant with new life. They capture the spirit of the season—the scent of mango blossoms, the call of the cuckoo, and the stirrings of love.
At their heart, Chaitavar are songs of love, expressing both union (samyog) and separation (viyog). While Phalgun songs celebrate togetherness, Chaitavar dwell in longing, giving voice to the ache of separation. The recurring refrains "ho" and "ho rama" lend them a distinctive rhythm and musical charm.
